MPLS is a multiprotocol network gateway that is designed to work with IP, ATM Frame Relay protocols. By efficiently labeling and identifying data packets, MPLS effortlessly tranfers information over networks whether they’re located locally, nationally or internationally. The Multiprotocol label switching can work on a single infrastructure and does not require additional hardware for operations.
MPLS Helps Builds End-to-end circuits
As MPLS labels data packets and information transported through network, there’s no need to read the contents to identify and route the information on a particular path. With MPLS being an OSI (Open system interconnection model), it works on the label switching formulation rather than routing principle. It completely eliminates the work of Layer 2 networks and is somewhere between data link layer and packet-switching networks. Therefore whether it’s end-to-end circuits or data packets to be exchanged. MPLS can be used for different kinds of traffic management.
